- I really love reading the comments by all the security professionals here, saying we don't need the TSA, because they have never caught a single terrorist. I was a security officer in the Navy.

- I cannot imagine losing a child. Before I had children I was a "tough guy." I could deal with any situation cooly and calmly, then, later in life, my children were born (twins) and everything changed.

- Gary, I met Bob Stethem the night before he boarded the plane where he was eventually beaten to death by terrorists. My parents were friends with John Testrake and his wife. A friend of mine was sitting next to a young lady who was killed in a terrorist bombing of a USO in Naples, Italy.

- Several years ago, while I was in the Navy, I considered becoming a cop after I retired and then I saw COPS on TV. After a couple of episodes I knew being a cop wasn't for me. I would be far too tempted to take a few folks out of the gene pool.

- Most cops pray they never have to fire a shot anywhere other than at the range. Turn off the TV and go out and meet some real cops. You might just find that they are mostly great people who are highly trained and very professional.
